Layout Modifiers let you charge for additional production details - such as cutting or seams - directly within your system. Layout Modifiers are specific to how a Product is cut or finished and are available in two types: Cutting and Seams. When you use a Cutting or Seam Layout Modifier, the retail price to your customer increases and these charges are included in the overall product total.

Cutting
Enabling cutting allows you to calculate costs and charge per cut. For example, if you cut a 24" x 36" item from a parent size of 48"x 96", the system will calculate how many cuts are needed and the rate you will charge per cut.
1. Select Cutting from the dropdown menu.
2. Select the Properties tab.
3. Select the Income Account and Expense Account for this Layout Modifier.
4. By checking the Cutting Used by Default box, Machines that use this function will automatically add cutting costs to the total cost of a part.
5. Check Include Setup Fee if you wish to include a setup fee amount.
6. Enabling Has Minimum Charge will allow you to enter a minimum charge amount. This checks the Modifier's total calculated retail price against the entered minimum charge. The greater of the two values will always be used.
7. Enter the number of sheets you can cut at one time. This number is used to help calculate the total number of cuts on a given job.
Note: This setting only applies to sheet-fed layouts. Roll-fed layouts will automatically use 1 as the number of sheets per cut.
8. Under Modifier Rate, select the pricing type you wish to use.
9. Set the Retail Amount and Base Cost for each cut.
10. Click Save Properties.

Seams
Enabling seams will automatically add Seam costs to the total cost of a part. For example, If you're printing a 10'x10' banner, but your machine can only print a 64" banner, this Modifier tells the system that you'll need to Seam this product.
1. Select Seams from the dropdown menu.
2. Select the Properties tab.
3. Select the Income Account and Expense Account for this Layout Modifier.
4. Check Include Setup Fee if you wish to include a setup fee amount.
5. Enabling Has Minimum Charge will allow you to enter a minimum charge amount. This checks the Modifier's total calculated retail price against the entered Minimum Charge. The greater of the two values will always be used.
6. Under Modifier Rate, select the pricing type you wish to use.
7. Set the Retail Amount and Base Cost for each seam.
8. Click Save Properties.
